The Opportunity

We are looking for a Fundraising Coordinator to support our Community and Corporate Partnerships team. Reporting to the Director and as a key member of the Community Initiatives & Events (CI) Department, this role is responsible for providing administrative support and assistance to the Community and Corporate Partnerships team, working collaboratively to sustain and inspire support from current donors, enhance stewardship activities, and engage prospective donors. This portfolio includes Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations (CCHF), Event-based Partnerships, Corporate donors, and other CI initiatives.

Contributing to the achievement of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation’s (ACHF) strategic objectives and priorities, the Fundraising Coordinator will be responsible for providing assistance and support to both the Director and Senior Associate (Program Director) in managing CMN/CCHF partner accounts and campaigns. This includes providing administrative assistance, support coordinating campaigns and events, and working collaboratively to inspire sustained and future support for the ACHF as well as working on special projects as assigned within the corporate partner portfolio. The Fundraising Coordinator will also facilitate and lead small national partnerships. (CMN/CCHF accounts under $50k revenue). Attendance at events scheduled in the evening and on weekends is required along with travel within Southern Alberta.

This is a temporary, full-time, term position for eighteen (18) months with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

As the Fundraising Coordinator, key responsibilities include:

  • Completion of assigned administrative and coordination activities in support of corporate partners, CMN/CCHF partner campaigns and initiatives, and partnership development. This may include coordination and execution of partner campaigns, donor stewardship calls/plans, attending meetings and visiting retail locations, providing ACHF information, reporting, and support to national partners, corporate employee engagement tools, and other project coordination all while delivering high-level service to donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Supporting the Director with donor stewardship, database entries, and other administrative tasks. 
  • Providing logistical support for donor events (lunch and learn activities, meetings, celebrations, virtual events etc.); supporting ACHF signature events and major initiatives as required.
  • Drafting and updating newsletters, social media, corporate website posts, and submitting small grant applications.
  • Updating campaign and initiative calendars including social media planners and website information and listings. 
  • Responding to general information requests by mail, e-mail, and phone from current and potential donors.
  • Maintaining and updating pertinent information on donors, contacts, and prospects into Raiser’s Edge (RE) database. 
  • Developing agendas and meeting actions in support of internal and external meetings.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments to find engagement opportunities for donors (major gifts, gifts in kind or sponsorships).
  • Building knowledge and understanding of the Foundation and our funding priorities in order to articulate the case for support of the ACHF/Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) and act as a well-informed ambassador at presentations, donor meetings and at recognition events.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • You have a  post-secondary diploma or degree in business administration, event management, not-for-profit management, or social innovation; suitable combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Your education is combined with at least three (3) years of relevant, administrative and/or fundraising experience. Specific experience supporting events in a not-for-profit setting would be an asset.
  • You have an excellent history of building relationships within the organization as well as with donors/clients/customers. This is reflected in your customer-service focus, professionalism, and ability to work through issues to successful resolution.
  • Your excellent technical and administrative skills are complemented by your focus on accuracy, attention to detail, understanding of data/data analytics, and the ability to extract information from the database for further analysis and reporting. You have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as SharePoint. In depth knowledge of customer or donor data systems is required; Raiser’s Edge experience is preferred.
  • With strong verbal and written communication skills, you have the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • You have exceptional organizational and excellent project management skills with the demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced and dynamic environment. You effectively manage information from multiple sources, take the initiative to prioritize, plan and execute on deliverables, making the best use of time and resources in order to manage multiple and often competing priorities.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is required for this role to support your ability to travel to various locations in Calgary and Southern Alberta. Flexibility to adjust regular work hours to meet business needs is required.
  • As we have implemented a hybrid work arrangement, you must have the ability to work both in office and virtually, being well versed in the tools and technology to be effective in both.
