Some jobs change processes. This one changes lives.

At CP Kids & Families (CPKF), we walk alongside families raising children and youth with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities. We help families navigate complex systems, celebrate milestones, overcome barriers, and build brighter futures.

We're looking for someone who sees possibilities where others see obstacles.

This isn't a traditional Social Work position. If you're looking for a role that is solely crisis intervention or case management, this may not be the right fit.

If you're looking for a position where you can build meaningful relationships with families, create innovative solutions, work with an incredible team, and genuinely improve quality of life, we'd love to meet you.

No two days are the same.

One day you might be:

  • Helping a family transition from children's services to adult services.
  • Supporting parents through guardianship or trusteeship planning.
  • Connecting someone with funding, equipment, or community resources.
  • Meeting with a young adult planning for employment or post-secondary education.
  • Collaborating with schools, health professionals, FSCD, PDD, AISH, and community agencies.
  • Developing new programs and resources to fill service gaps.
  • Celebrating a child's first successful adapted bike ride.

What You'll Do
As our Family Support Worker / Social Worker, you will:

  • Provide direct support and guidance to families navigating disability supports and services
  • Assist families in accessing programs such as FSCD, PDD, AISH, RDSP, DTC, and other financial benefits
  • Support families during key transition points (diagnosis, school transitions, adulthood planning)
  • Provide case management and resource navigation
  • Coordinate and operate the Equipment Loan Program by managing inventory, equipment loans and returns, maintenance, sanitation, client support, and program administration to ensure safe, timely, and equitable access to adaptive equipment for members and their families.
  • Facilitate support groups, information sessions, and educational workshops
  • Collaborate with community partners, therapists, schools, and service providers
  • Maintain accurate documentation and confidential family records
  • Work collaboratively with our recreation, adapted bike, and family support teams.
  • Contribute to program development and evaluation of family support services
  • Help identify emerging needs and create innovative services that respond to them.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field – or relevant sector experience
  • Registered Social Worker (RSW) with ACSW preferred, or equivalent experience in family support
  • Experience working with children with disabilities and their families
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta disability supports and community resources
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small, mission-driven team
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong administrative and documentation skills
  • Second language considered an asset, particularly when supporting diverse or newcomer families
  • Candidates with lived experience with disability, caregiving, or navigating disability support systems are strongly encouraged to apply, as this perspective can be valuable in supporting the families we serve.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move adapted equipment weighing up to 50lbs/23kg

Why Join CPKF?
You'll become part of a passionate team that believes families deserve more than referrals—they deserve partners.

We offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
