Roles and Responsibilities:
- Crop & Bed Work:
- Prepare beds, seed, transplant, weed, water, and tend crops according to the farm plan, using ecological practices and simple record-keeping where needed. Help keep bed areas tidy, tools organized, and follow timelines so crops are ready for harvest on schedule.
- Harvest & post-harvest:
- Harvest to quality and ripeness standards, then wash, sort, bunch, weigh, and pack produce for CSA, markets, and orders. Maintain clean, food-safe workspaces and follow farm systems so orders are accurate, traceable, and look beautiful.
- Market & Culture Support:
- Help set up and take down the farm stand, arrange attractive produce displays, and restock as needed. Interact with customers in a warm, culturally aware way, answer basic questions about the farm and produce, and support simple sales (e.g., Square/cash).
- Team & Culture:
- Work respectfully with people from many backgrounds, listen well, and communicate clearly about tasks and timing. Uphold farm values of inclusion and relationship with the land, participate in team check-ins and learning days, and offer ideas for improving systems as you learn.
Qualifications:
- Interested in agriculture, community building, and environmental sustainability.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Patience and willingness to engage in practical and sometimes repetitive tasks.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work hard to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for learning new farming techniques.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

CCIS – Resettlement and Integration Services (RIS) Division
CCIS Resettlement & Integration Services (RIS) division provides support services that enable Government Assisted Refugees (GARs) to transition to a new life in Calgary. RIS also offers several programs specific to refugee children and youth. RIS programs are designed to: assist in developing the independence of our clients, build capacity within the family structure and enhance our clients’ economic success. Our team of multicultural Counsellors provides settlement assistance in over 90 languages.
